Unofficial sources the cause of death was a heart attack.
Vojnovic was born in Glina in 1952 and lived in Vukovar since 1961.
During the Serb occupation of Croatian territories of eastern
Slavonia, Baranja and western Srijem, he carried out judicial
duties in courts of the occupied area, also known as the Serb
Autonomous Province of Krajina (SAO Krajina).
His name became prominent in the media in the past week, ever since
the Vukovar County Court's judicial council positively assessed
his candidacy as judge of the said court.
A number of political parties and Homeland War associations
expressed opposition to his candidacy for judge, stressing that
"during the Serb aggression and occupation he made himself
available to the Greater Serbian rebellion", and recalled that the
Osijek County Court had in 1992 "sentenced him to 12 years in prison
for rebellion against the Republic of Croatia". He was later
pardoned by the government.
