ZAGREB, Nov 12 (Hina) - The share portion of foreign banks in the ownership structure of banks in Croatia has gone over 90 percent, but the share portion of four major banks in the total assets of the banking system has mildly
decreased, according to latest data released by the Croatian National Bank (HNB).

ownership structure of banks in Croatia has gone over 90 percent,
but the share portion of four major banks in the total assets of the
banking system has mildly decreased, according to latest data
released by the Croatian National Bank (HNB). #L#
The banking system's total assets came to 153.7 billion kuna in mid
2002, or by 5.2 billion kuna (i.e. 3.5 percent) more than at the end
of 2001.
The latest data on the ownership structure show that the part of
foreign banks mildly rose from 89.3 percent at the end of last year
to 90.1 percent in late June this year.
Private Croatian banks have a part of 5.9 percent, while the
remaining four percent in the ownership structure is held by the
state-owned banks.
The part of four major banks fell by one percent from the end of 2001
to 59 percent in late June.
According to the same source, in late June, there were 23 foreign
banks, 22 private Croatian banks and two state-owned banks in
Croatia.
