ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - Retired Croatian admiral Davor Domazet-Loso,
who has called for the talks with investigators of ICTY, on Tuesday
evening announced that he would respond to the call for the
interview. #L#
"I respect the institutions of the (Croatian) Government, the
Croatian state and institutions of the Hague-based Tribunal and I
will respond with no problem," Admiral Domazet said in the Croatian
Television's flagship news programme "Dnevnik".
Earlier in the day Premier Ivica Racan said his Cabinet had received
a request from the ICTY (International Criminal Tribunal for the
former Yugoslavia) Prosecution to make it possible for ICTY
representatives to interview three suspects, including Admiral
Domazet. Racan declined to reveal names of the other two suspects,
and only said that they were lower-ranked officers.
Admiral Domazet, who was called for the interview in his capacity as
the head of the Croatian army's intelligence service from 1991 to
1997, said he was surprised by the ICTY Prosecution's call.
"Intelligence officers of other countries - the United States,
Great Britain, France, Spain - are by law not allowed to testify
before the court in The Hague, and therefore there is some surprise
why I have been called in that capacity," he explained.
He added that he would meet ICTY investigators in Zagreb in about
ten days' time.
