ZAGREB, Oct 30 (Hina) - The Croatian Government on Wednesday night
endorsed a draft revision of this year's state budget which in
addition to savings and decreased expenditure will, nevertheless
due to unforeseen expenditure in Health, increase the total
budgetary spending expenditure by 370 million kuna (approximately
49.3 million euros). #L#
The budget will realise total savings of 1.168 billion kuna (155
million euros) but some expenditure has been increased by 540
million kuna (EUR72 million) due to increased expenditure for
salaries and overstepping budget funds, Finance Minister Mato
Crkvenac explained.
This will give a total net savings of 628 million kuna (EUR83.7
million) with 133 million kuna (EUR17.7 million) of savings in some
funds for development and regional development savings amounting
to a total of 761 million kuna (EUR101.46 million).
This picture however is affected by increased expenditure in health
amounting to 1.1 billion kuna (EUR146 million) more than planned,
Crkvenac said.
Cuts, foreseen with the revision in the total budget decreased
foreseen, amount to around 1.168 billion kuna (EUR155 million) and
the highest is foreseen in the Finance Ministry (decreased interest
for bonds issued and interest on loans received as well as the
settlement of loans).
Significant decreases are planned in the Transport Ministry
(virtually 205 million kuna or EUR27.3 million) and in Public Works
(108 million kuna or EUR14.4 million).
Savings were achieved through cuts in material costs, official
travel, intellectual services, repayment of loans, smaller costs
relating to the issuing of bonds, the construction and
reconstruction of some facilities and other austerity measures.
The revision - amendments to the budget - foresees extra funding for
the Interior Ministry (90 million kuna or 12 million euros),
Education Ministry (130 million or EUR17.3 million), Health
Ministry (107.3 million kuna or EUR14.2 million), Science and
Technology Ministry (121 million kuna or EUR16.1 million) and
Justice Ministry (26.1 million kuna or EUR3.48 million).
