Lucin expressed gratitude for the donation, recalling that over the
past two years the German Interior Ministry had donated EUR2
million worth of equipment for the intervention police alone.
Intensive cooperation with the German side will be pursued in
several more projects, including the highly anticipated "Police in
the Community" pilot project, which Germany has been implementing
for 20 years.
According to Manthey, the modern police officer lives in a
community with citizens and they can refer to him with absolute
confidence. Police achieve much better and more concrete results
working as a preventive and not as a repressive apparatus, he said.
Asked about the recent action on the "Boka Star" ship in Rijeka,
Minister Lucin said it proved that Croatia was an active
participant in the world's anti-terrorist coalition.
