ZAGREB, Oct 24 (Hina) - Croatia's President Stjepan Mesic on Thursday forwarded a message to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in connection with the hostage crisis in Moscow, strongly condemning that terrorist act and expressing
solidarity with the Russian people.

"The events in Moscow are yet another confirmation that there is
need for an energetic, global response to the threat of
international terrorism from which nobody can be safe at any moment
in any part of the world," Mesic's message read.
According to a statement issued by Mesic's Office, he expressed
"sincere solidarity" with the Russian nation and confidence that
the hostage crisis would end soon.
On Wednesday evening, alleged Chechen terrorists raided a theatre
in the Russian capital, taking over 700 people hostage. They asked
for the end of the war in Chechnya in return for the release of the
hostages.
