The conference of the International Network of Cultural Policies
gathered culture ministers from 22 countries.
This year's event focused on cultural diversity in developing
countries and globalisation challenges. Adopted at the conference
were instruments suggested by Network member-countries, which will
be presented to UNESCO, the statement said.
It was agreed that the instruments be presented to the UNESCO
Secretary-General by six Network ministers, including Croatia's
Vujic, so that they could be included in UNESCO documents which are
to be discussed at the next ministerial conference, to be held in
Opatija, Croatia.
Presented at the conference were the results of two working groups,
from Mexico and Switzerland, laws and programmes for the
preservation of cultural heritage and the media in globalised
world. A working group was formed to prepare a working document for
the Opatija conference.
Vujic spoke about Croatia's cultural policy, laws and their
implementation.
As of January 1 next year, Vujic takes over the chairmanship of the
Network.
The Opatija conference, to take place next October, will focus on
culture and development.
