ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - The Croatian Radio-Television (HRT) Council
will suggest to Culture Minister Antun Vujic that amendments to the
Law on the HRT do not separate the radio and television, because
such practice is not common in most European countries. #L#
The Council adopted this decision after Thursday's discussion on
Vujic's letter in which he asked that HRT leaders, including the
Council, to voice their opinions on the implementation of the
existing Law on HRT, as well as suggestions to improve the law, on
whose changes the culture ministry is working.
The Law on HRT envisages the separation of the radio and television
into two public institutions. According to the law adopted in
February 2001, the deadline for the separation expired on July 1.
