In response to a Croatian request of Sept. 27, the Hague tribunal's
prosecution established on Oct. 11 that Croatia did not have
grounds to submit an interlocutory appeal against an arrest and
hand-over warrant for the 83-year-old Bobetko.
Mikulicic said he could not comment on the contents of the Hague
prosecution's response as all he knew about it he had learned from
the media.
He stated that only when the paper was formally received could
decisions as to further action be made.
Mikulicic said that he "in principle" advocated answering the Hague
tribunal's response.
Besides the request to lodge an interlocutory appeal, Croatia on
Oct. 4 forwarded to the Hague tribunal's Appelate Court an appeal
against the contents of the Bobetko indictment, which charges the
general with crimes committed during 1993's Medak Pocket
operation.
