"We must help the government as long as it is successfully
withstanding pressures from The Hague, and in case of a negative
outcome, we have a protective mechanism - referendum," Djapic said
at a news conference.
The HSP president said his party supported a parliamentary debate
on amendments to the Constitutional Law on Cooperation with the
ICTY, and added that the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the
Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) were several years behind with
the motion.
Djapic reminded that the law had been adopted by the HDZ six years
ago, with the support of the Opposition, and that the HSP had been
the only party to oppose it.
