back the UN tribunal's indictment against General Bobetko to The
Hague. #L#
HSLS vice president Josko Kontic welcomed the government's
decision and stated that the government should once again inspect
the indictments against Ante Gotovina and Rahim Ademi which also
degraded the Croatian Constitution and the entire project of
creating the Croatian State, Kontic said.
DC president Mate Granic said the government should work with the
opposition to agree to changes to the constitutional law so that the
Supreme Court could give a final opinion on whether an indictment
falls within the Statute and Regulations of the Hague Tribunal.
DC leader believes that the government should not let an
opportunity pass by to obtain political consensus and to
immediately begin lobbying in the USA, the EU, Russia, China and the
UN and to explain its latest moves. Any future decision should be
founded on international law and should be very clear, he said.
President of the Croatian Bloc, Ivic Pasalic, stated that the
example of General Bobetko made it obvious that the government had a
constitutional and legal opportunity to return indictments. I
welcome the government's decision on this matter and we should
reach a general national consensus because this does not only refer
to General Bobetko but the Homeland War and the foundations on which
the Croatian State was created.
The HSP leader, Anto Djapic, said the government's decision to
return the indictment to the Hague Court, was great news.
The government is behaving responsibly and has ensured a time out to
reach consensus with the aim of rejecting any ridiculing or attacks
on the Croatian State, Djapic said.
