Some 50 Serbs, mostly elderly people, arrived on two buses under the
escort of the Kosovo Force and the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK)
police to regulate their pension allowances. Their arrival was met
with disgruntlement among local Albanians, who started throwing
stones at the windows of the pension fund office and the buses,
causing damage on several international police cars.
A special Spanish police unit used tear gas to disperse the
protesters. After a two-hour blockade, the Serbs returned to the
village of Osojane in the Pec region, which is part of a NATO refugee
return pilot-project.
