ZAGREB, Oct 10 (Hina) - Croatian Defence Minister Zeljka Antunovic

their own accord. #L#
The decision on stimulating severance pays has not been signed yet,
possible solutions are still being considered and talks on possible
funding sources have not been completed, Minister Antunovic said at
a government building in Zagreb.
The Rijeka daily has reported that the minister decided to give all
active members of the armed forces who still do not meet retirement
requirements severance pays totalling one gross salary for every
year of service, increased by 50 percent, on condition they sign a
document binding them to leave the army by March 1, 2003.
In case they oblige themselves to leave the army of their own accord
by July 1 next year, their severance pays will be increased by 25
percent.
Answering a reporter's question, the minister said that "the
information on 350,000 kuna having been spent for the redecoration
of the defence minister's cabinet is partially correct", but added
that its tone was "inappropriate".
She added that the minister's cabinet was not the only office to
have been redecorated, and that other offices, which had been in an
intolerable condition, had been repaired as well.
She dismissed claims about her cabinet being furnished luxuriously
and added that repair works were necessary because the office had
been in a state of disrepair.
