According to preliminary estimate, Croatia's GDP for 2001 really
increased by 3.8 percent compared to 2000, and thus the recent data
about a 4.1-percent rise was corrected after all the relevant facts
were collected.
The figures were shown on the web pages of the Central Bureau of
Statistics.
The differences in figures, according to analysts, should be
ascribed to the results of harmonisation of data from the quarterly
and annual basis.
According to indicators from the calculation of the GDP in the
second quarter of this year, an increase in personal consumption
and investments exerted the biggest impact on the rise in the GDP.
The rate of increase in the personal consumption is six (6) percent,
and investments in capital climbed by 8.7 percent. The second
quarter of 2002 registered an increase of 7.9 percent in the export
of goods and services as against the same period in 2001.
The state spending, whoever, has been on the decline for the ninth
consecutive quarter. It fell by 2.3 percent in the second trimester
of 2002. The slower dynamic of a rise in the GDP was also caused by an
increase of 3.4 percent in the import of goods and services.
