ZAGREB, Sept 20 (Hina) - A Vice-President of the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ), Andrija Hebrang, on Friday said the
behaviour of the incumbent government had led to the issuance of a
UN war crimes tribunal indictment against General Janko Bobetko.

"This is the last test at which it can correct all that it has ruined
over for two and a half years," said Hebrang, who together with HDZ
President Ivo Sanader, Sanader's deputy Jadranka Kosor, and the HDZ
parliamentary bench head Vladimir Seks visited Bobetko at his
home.
The government can correct its failures by refusing to extradite
its citizens and by adopting changes to the law on cooperation with
the tribunal, Hebrang said.
Asked by reporters whether there were indications that this might
happen, Hebrang replied that it was what Premier Ivica Racan
promised in the Sabor yesterday.
Sanader said the HDZ stated its position regarding the Bobetko case
in parliament yesterday. "General Bobetko is a hero, a symbol, and a
legend of the defence of the Homeland War, an honest man who is
certainly not a war criminal. General Bobetko isn't going to The
Hague," he said.
