expanding their economic cooperation, particularly in the segment

Italy amounted to 20 percent of Croatia's overall exchange. #L#
This was said at Croatian-Italian business meetings, organised
within the international Zagreb Autumn Fair by the Croatian Chamber
of Commerce and Chamber of Udine and Trieste. #L#
The two countries' overall exchange last year amounted to US$2.6
billion, of which the import from Italy amounted to US$1.5 billion,
while Croatia's export to Italy amounted to US$1.1 billion.
The meetings drew representatives of about a dozen Croatian
companies and as many Italian ones that are exchanging experience
and discussing future cooperation.
The director of the Italian institute for foreign trade in Zagreb,
Fabio Gironi, pointed to a great interest of Italian companies in
investing in Croatia's economy, particularly in tourism,
shipbuilding industry, wood and food-processing industries. He
also called on Croatian companies to be more included in
cooperation with Italian partners.
