This is being prepared by a sub-commission for fishing, while a
special joint commission is dealing with a temporary regime on the
sea border.
The temporary solution is based on an agreement on cross-border
cooperation. The temporary border regime would apply for three
months, and it could be prolonged if necessary.
Ljubljana and Zagreb are ready to compensate fishermen if the
fishermen agree to a compromise.
Even though Picula and Rupel are satisfied with the reached
agreement, the two ministers said it was important to continue
diplomatic and political contacts on the issues of the long-term
importance, primarily the process of joining Euro-Atlantic
associations.
Picula and Rupel are heading Croatia and Slovenia's delegations at
the 57th annual session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Croatian and Slovene foreign ministers will meet again in
October when a protocol on cooperation between the two ministries.
