The first 450 pupils from Dresden, Meissen, Cossebaude, Pirna,
Olbernhau, Aue, Tiefenbach, and Eilenburg arrive in Vrsar, Porec,
Rovinj, and Umag on the 14th.
The project is sponsored by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and
part of "Friendship Has No Frontiers", a humanitarian action
launched by some 40 Croatian companies, tourist boards, bankers,
and hoteliers.
The project envisages free week-long, all-inclusive vacations for
some 2,000 people from the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany,
mostly children, as well as fire-fighters, soldiers, and policemen
who helped in fighting the recent floods.
The project, which lasts until Nov. 12, costs some EUR300,000, most
of which has already been raised.
The project was presented in Zagreb's Opera hotel today.
