The water level of the Danube at Batina has risen to 730 cm. The
water level of the Drava in Osijek is expected to rise in the next 12
hours, but not over 450 cm.
The head of the Osijek Croatian Waters office, Zoran Djurokovic,
said there would be no surprises in coming days, except in case of
major rainfall, but local residents were safe from floods.
Djurokovic said the surge in the Danube would start flowing
downstream tomorrow and it would take two days to pass Croatia.
Djurokovic said it was possible some holiday houses would be
flooded in Aljmas and Dalj where the surge had not arrived yet, but
new sacks with sand had been sent to the two villages. He could not
confirm if another water surge would arrive from Germany due to the
recent rains.
The head of the county flood crisis centre, Pavo Sarcevic, said the
centre was ready for possible extraordinary situations.
