the Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. #L#
Mesic said that solution would be the simplest as the Hamburg-based
tribunal is paid by the United Nations, which means that Croatia
would not incur additional costs.
If the matter was settled through arbitration, Croatia and Slovenia
should agree on arbiters and establish rules by which they would
work, as well as have to pay for everything, Mesic said in Lipik,
where he visited a glass factory.
He added that the border agreement the two countries had initialled
had been rejected by both expert and political circles. Those who
insist on the agreement are wrong, he said.
Mesic stated that both sides should be allowed to fish in Piran Bay
and a that bearable climate should be created to the benefit of both
sides. He was confident this could be achieved.
Piran Bay has been the site of recent incidents between Croatian and
Slovene fishermen.
