The Croatian delegation is headed by the leader of the Buje region
fishermen, Daniele Kolec, and the Slovene by the head of the
association of Piran fishermen, Zlatko Novogradec.
The fishermen decided to meet in order to defuse tensions after a
number of incidents in Piran Bay caused by different
interpretations of the demarcation line in the bay.
After the first meeting, held last Tuesday along the middle line in
Piran Bay, it was agreed that neither side would fish in the
contentious part of the bay until today's meeting. The agreement
was respected by both sides.
The talks at the Piran town hall started at 9 am and statements for
the press are expected at their end.
