Rupel sent the invitation for talks during ongoing intensive
communication between senior officials of the two countries'
foreign ministries.
The Croatian Foreign Ministry reiterated its stance that talks and
negotiations were unavoidable instruments for defusing tensions
and to create a possibility for the two countries to reach a final
solution to issues burdening their relations.
The meeting between the two ministers must be well prepared in order
for it to result in concrete solutions, the ministry stressed.
The ministry firmly stands behind its belief that ahead of the
meeting, both sides should do everything possible to diminish
tensions and unburden the meeting from daily political pressured.
The Croatian side has hitherto exerted maximal efforts to lessen
the tensions. It expects the same from the Slovene side, which would
significantly contribute to the further development of the idea of
strategic partnership and the strengthening of mutual trust, the
ministry concluded.
