The Summer European University course at the Inter-University
Centre will be opened with a lecture by Gvozden Flego, Croatia's
science and technology minister and one of the event's organisers.
The event was initiated by Patrice Canivez, a Lille III University
professor, and is the result of close cooperation among this French
university, the Dubrovnik Inter-University Centre, the University
of Zagreb, France's education and foreign ministries, and the
French Embassy in Zagreb.
The course aims to establish a Francophone network of researchers
in the humanities and social sciences, as well as a European
university education system based on the long-standing partnership
with Francophone universities in central and southeast Europe.
