"Josko Joras is under constant medical supervision at the Zagreb
Hospital for Arrested Persons. Doctors assess his clinical
condition as stable," Hehet told Hina, adding that Joras continued
to refuse food and drank only tea.
Joras is a Slovene citizen who disputes Croatian sovereignty in his
place of residence, Mlini, a Croatian village close to the Slovene
border. Seven misdemeanour proceedings were held against him since
1999, but he ignored them all, refusing to pay fines. He was
arrested on Aug. 21 and taken into custody in Pula to serve a 30-day
prison sentence.
Joras was transferred to Zagreb on Tuesday evening.
Slovene Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek told reporters in Ljubljana
on Wednesday that Joras's release would contribute to Croatian-
Slovene relations.
