Since August 21, Joras has been serving a month-long prison term in
Pula because he ignored seven misdemeanour proceedings and not
paying penalty fees. The proceedings related to Joras's refusing to
acknowledge Croatian sovereignty and for disrupting public peace
and order.
Istria police also levelled charges against five residents of Umag
-- Damir Berac, Sinisa Crnogorac, Edvin Demarko, Vili Medica and
Goran Matkovic -- for stripping down the Slovene flag from Joras's
house and putting up the Croatian flag. In doing this, they
committed the crime of breaching the inviolability of the home,
having stripped down the flag from the roof of Joras's house without
Joras's or house residents' permission, Prosenjak said.
