Delivered to Hina on Wednesday, the statement signed by
headquarters president Mirko Condic was released in connection
with recent incidents in Piran Bay, which saw Slovene fishermen
frequently entering Croatian waters.
The impudence of Slovenia's government and fishermen in Piran Bay
has gone too far, and allowing for such behaviour is below the limit
of Croatian national pride and honour, said the statement.
"It is no longer possible to calmly watch the insolence and
aggression of the Slovenes and the familiar silence and
subservience of (Croatian PM, Ivica) Racan's communists," the
statement read, asserting this was not what war veterans had fought
for.
The veterans' headquarters maintains that by initialling a border
deal with Slovenia Racan has done direct damage to Croatia and
should therefore resign.
