The SFOR said in a statement the operation was carried out east of
Foca, towards the border with Montenegro, and focused on the
village of Celebici, where an attempt to arrest Karadzic was made in
February.
The operation involved hundreds of soldiers, some hundred
vehicles, and a large number of helicopters, and consisted of
checking previously collected information on persons believed to
be helping Karadzic by providing him with shelter, food, transport,
and information to avoid being caught.
SFOR's chief commander, US General John Sylvester, said the
operation helped explain many hitherto unknown facts. He said the
SFOR would decide when and how to use the collected information.
The SFOR statement read that authorities in the Bosnian Serb
entity, local population and police cooperated with the SFOR
troops.
