actually in the Slovenian waters. #L#
According to a statement which Slovenian police issued on Saturday
night, they responded to the call which Slovenian fishermen sent
them at 11.45 am Saturday informing them of the arrival of a
Croatian patrol boat "2.5 nautical miles inside the area of the
Piran Bay controlled by Slovenian police."
The Slovenian police asserted in their statement that they had
prevented an attempt which was aimed at taking Slovenian fishermen
to the Croatian town of Umag.
Croatian fishermen in the bay on Sunday afternoon said that there
had been no Slovenian boats in the Croatian waters earlier in the
day, although they had heard that their colleagues from that
country would try fishing in the Croatian waters again on Sunday
morning.
A leader of Croatian fishermen in Umag, Daniele Kolec, described
such announcements as yet another case of the provocation from
their Slovenian colleagues.
Slovenian fishing boats crossed the demarcation line in the Bay of
Piran entering the Croatian waters three times this week, on
Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
