Prior to today's session of his cabinet, Racan said the Croatian
government would on 22 August consider draft decisions to be
forwarded to the ACI shareholders' meeting, scheduled for 12
September.
The Croatian Privatisation Fund is a majority owner of this
company.
The problems surrounding ACI recently came to a head with
apparently two presidents of the managing board and two presidents
of the supervisory board, each of them claiming that only his
appointment was legal.
Last Friday, sources from the government reported that party
interests were not relevant in this case but a conflict of varying
development concepts where one supports the development of marinas
while the other considers that ACI is not necessary at all.
Racan expressed dissatisfaction with the situation in ACI and with
the conduct of the supervisory and managing boards.
"This government will adhere to its stand that there will be no sale
or privatisation of ACI," Racan said.
"We shall try to show that we are the responsible owner of ACI and we
shall be able to make decisions as to discontinue this circus in ACI
during the tourist season," the premier added.
