MOSTAR, Aug 7 (Hina) - High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina
Paddy Ashdown on Wednesday announced sharper reforms in the Bosnian
judicial system along with dismissals of judges who, as he said,
were not working in line with the law and that new judges would be
employed in their place. #L#
There are mechanisms for reforms in the judiciary because the newly
founded Bosnia Judicial Council would in the future control the
work of judges, Ashdown said during a visit to Mostar. Ashdown
pointed out that there were judges in Mostar who were not acting in
accordance with the law and that there were a large number of
criminal proceedings that the prosecution in Mostar was not
initiating at all.
Ashdown said that legislative reforms were urgent in Bosnia in
order to enable a speedier establishment of new companies and
employment.
Advocating the creation of a functional state in Bosnia, Ashdown
recommended that the country must reform or it would collapse.
