SARAJEVO, Aug 6 (Hina) - The capital of banks in Bosnia-Herzegovina decreased by 81 million convertible marks in the first half of 2002 compared to 2001, reported the Sarajevo-based daily Oslobodjenje on Tuesday.

The entire value of banks in this country, estimated according to
the International Monetary Fund's methodology, comes to 1.22
billion marks.
The largest part of this value consists of the equity capital, worth
683.7 million marks.
The situation in the banking sector is still much better in the
Croat-Muslim Federation than in the Serb entity.
Banks in the Federation own means worth 780 million, while the
capital in the Republic of Srpska banks is worth just over 340
million.
The federation holds 14.1 percent of the equity capital in the local
banks, while the Serb entity's authorities hold 26.2 percent of it
in banks in its area, according to figures which the country's
central bank issued.
So far this year, the banks in the Croat-Muslim entity have
registered the current profit of 16.8 million marks, whereas the
banks in the other entity have had losses of 7.4 million.
