According to an official report, the source said, border guards
fired five bullets into the air only after four boats with no
previous notice entered Yugoslav territory and ignored several
calls to stop at the river bank.
The same source denied claims by Croatian media that shots had been
fired from the Yugoslav army's patrol boat at the boats.
The boats only made their way to the bank after the warning shots
were fired. Their crew and passengers then, in keeping with
procedure, were handed over to the Serbian police, the source told
Beta.
