Picula said Croatia advocated the policy of "one China".
Both officials commended the two countries' bilateral relations,
saying economic cooperation should be stepped up and trade
balanced. The Chinese official said this could be facilitated with
the signing of a memorandum on understanding for organised arrivals
of Chinese tourists in Croatia, which China has drawn up.
The two officials also addressed the situation in the two regions
and world political developments. Li said China supported
Croatia's bids to join international institutions.
The Chinese official was received by Deputy Foreign Minister Vesna
Cvjetkovic-Kurelec as well.
Both sides hoped China's participation as partner country at the
autumn international Zagreb Fair would bolster trade.
Commenting on a recent visit by the Dalai Lama to Croatia,
Cvjetkovic-Kurelec said Croatian authorities had in no way
participated in the preparation of the visit. The Dalai Lama was
received solely in his function as a religious leader, she added.
