According to a statement released by Metropolitan Jovan, the
council of the dignitaries held a session on 6 July to discuss the
contents of a future agreement which should regulate the relations
between Croatia's authorities and the Serb Orthodox Church and its
organisational part in Croatia.
The council considered this year's priorities in the
reconstruction of war-damaged religious facilities.
Metropolitan Jovan held meetings with ethnic Serb representatives
who informed him about the drawing up of a law on national
minorities, the 2001 census, the return of refugees and the
restoration of their assets.
"The Serb Orthodox Church will attentively follow these
significant jobs which our community and the Croatian state are to
do, and respond to them and assist in bids that no further injustice
be done by redressing some wrongs," read the statement signed by
Metropolitan Jovan.
