(SSSH), living costs in the past three months have dropped by 2.9

The costs of the consumer goods basket which the NHS calculates each
month for several Croatian cities indicate that the basic living
costs of a four-member family have increased on average by less than
0.5 percent. This increase is primarily due to a 1.44 percent
increase in the prices of food products.
This is the first time the NHS did the calculations for the towns of
Krk and Bol, which turned out to be more expensive than Dubrovnik,
which so far had the most expensive consumer basket.
Minimum expenses for food, hygiene products, clothing,
accommodation, transport, and cultural activities in Bol and Krk
amounted to 7,720 kuna (approx. 1,056 euros) and 7,524 kuna
(approx. 1,029 euros) respectively. Minimum living costs in Zagreb
totalled 6,487 kuna (approx. 887 euros).
The high living costs in Bol and Krk were caused by the cost of food
products, which is traditionally a little higher on the islands,
but additionally increased ahead of the tourist season, affecting
the local population as well, the NHS said.
According to data released by the State Bureau of Statistics on the
average salary in each county, the coverage of monthly consumer
basket costs was the highest in Zagreb (65.77 percent), followed by
Split (56.48 percent), Rijeka (54.60 percent), Osijek (50.51
percent), Krk (47.18 percent), and Bol (47.17 percent).
The NHS said that the consumer goods basket did not include costs
related to education and health, annual holidays and sporting
activities and it assumed that the average family does not own a
car.
According to data released by the SSSH, which last calculated the
cost of the consumer goods basket in March, the minimum living costs
of a four-member family in the past three months dropped by 20.51
euros, totalling 5,069 kuna (approx. 693 euros).
The decrease is attributed to the seasonal decrease in the cost of
food products by 9.57 euros and a cheaper clothing offer.
The State Bureau of Statistics notes that the average monthly
salary in April amounted to 3,969 kuna (approx. 505 euros), the SSSH
reminded.
