examined draft amendments to the Law on Administrative Taxes with
the objective of removing unnecessary barriers to foreign
investments. #L#
Deputy Justice, Administration and Local Self-Government Minister
Miljenko Kovac explained that the basic motive of the proposer of
the bill was to create a "friendly" environment towards foreign
investors.
Even though MPs supported the bill, parliamentary benches believed
that administrative taxes were not a serious barrier to investments
because these were usual symbolical amounts, they said.
MPs asked the government to conduct a study before the second
reading, outlining the possible affects the bill could have on the
state budget.
MPs also examined a final bill on the agriculture law which should
enable the implementation of reforms in the agricultural sector.
As Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bozidar Pankretic explained,
the law would define the status of family farms and enable them
access to the market while at the same time combating the "grey
economy".
