Seventy deputies voted for and 26 against the law. The law was
adopted by the parliament's Council of Republics on April 11.
Its purpose, Parliament Vice-President Miroljub Labus said, is to
"facilitate the establishment of a lasting peace and security in
southern Serbia".
Opposition deputies criticised the law, accusing Serbia's ruling
coalition DOS and Montenegro's Socialist People's Party of
"granting amnesty to Albanian terrorists under the dictate of
western countries". The law refers mostly to Kosovo Albanians.
