NEW YORK, July 3 (Hina) - Encouraged by progress in talks between

on Prevlaka (UNMOP) be conditionally extended for another three

Annan said should the two sides reach an agreement before October
15, he would immediately inform the Security Council.
A report dating June 28 was published in New York on Wednesday and
the Security Council should pass a decision by July 15 when the
current UNMOP mandate expires.
Annan said Croatia and Yugoslavia were actively working on the
integral border regime, as well as on the mutual implementation of
the surveillance mechanism, which could contribute to the
successful completion of the UNMOP mandate.
The UN Secretary-General said he hoped that the two countries would
continue to make progress and agree on a transitional border regime
in the near future, which would enable the withdrawal of UN military
observers.
