ZAGREB, June 29 (Hina) - The main assembly of the Matrix Croatica cultural society, the oldest national cultural institution, began a session on Saturday at which it will elect the new leadership.

President Josip Bratulic said that in everything it did in its 160-
year-long history, Matrix Croatica followed the Croatian people,
participating in the building of Croatian civil society.
The history of Croatian literature could not have been written
without Matrix Croatica, said Bratulic.
The general assembly session was welcomed by the Croatian Writers
Society, the Culture Ministry, the Croatian cultural society
Napredak and the Serbian cultural society Prosvjeta, and others.
