discussed two finance-related bills under which savings and loan
cooperatives would be able to conduct money transfers for their
members. #L#
With the bills, the government envisaged the possibility for co-ops
to conduct money transfers only if they sign a contract with a
commercial bank.
The majority of the parliamentary benches announced they would
support the bill. The majority, however, also supported an
amendment moved by the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), allowing co-
ops to conduct money transfers for their members regardless of
whether they have a contract with a commercial bank or not.
The government is expected to accept the amendment and divest
itself of the influence of "banking lobbies".
