Jacques Chirac, Pope John Paul II, and chairman of the Bosnian Presidency, Beriz Belkic, the President's Office said in a statement on Thursday.
ZAGREB, June 27 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic received
letters of best wishes on occasion of Croatian Statehood Day, June
25, from numerous heads of state, including Russian President
Vladimir Putin, French President Jacques Chirac, Pope John Paul II,
and chairman of the Bosnian Presidency, Beriz Belkic, the
President's Office said in a statement on Thursday. #L#
Putin expressed conviction that the realisation of agreements
reached during negotiations in Moscow would enhance Croatian-
Russian relations and activate trade and economic ties, as well as
contribute to the strengthening of Europe's stability and
security, the statement said.
Chirac stressed Croatia had made significant progress, showing its
engagement on the path of democracy, regional reconciliation and
rapprochement with Europe.
He stressed that France completely encouraged all efforts aimed at
stabilisation and development, the statement said.
Belkic expressed hope that relations between the two countries
would continue to develop, and that open issues would be solved
through friendly dialogue.
