KARLOVAC, June 26 (Hina) - War crimes indictee Fikret Abdic on Wednesday began presenting his defence at the Karlovac County Court. Speaking for five hours, Abdic claimed that he was being tried on the basis of political pamphlets,
which the Bihac prosecution used to draw up the indictment against him.

Court. Speaking for five hours, Abdic claimed that he was being
tried on the basis of political pamphlets, which the Bihac
prosecution used to draw up the indictment against him. #L#
Abdic does not believe that the prosecutor in Bihac was the
"architect" of the indictment, but rather a group of politicians in
Bosnia-Herzegovina with former president Alija Izetbegovic at the
helm. He also said the "architects" were mostly individuals from
the "Zagreb lobby", and from Rijeka and Velika Kladusa, who were
"religious, military and political yes-men of my executioners from
Sarajevo".
According to Abdic, they exploited the war situation to settle
accounts with him.
Abdic is being tried for war crimes against civilians and prisoners
of war in 1993, 1994, and 1995 in the so-called Autonomous Province
of Western Bosnia.
Abdic will continue his defence on Thursday.
