ZV director Davorin Spevec said at a press conference today the most
important presentations about the relationship between cities or
regions and fairs were those by Munich and Vienna fairs.
Spevec, who was elected this year's CEFA president, said that the
Fiera Bolzano fair had become a new member of the association and
that the Skopje Fair had applied for admission.
CEFA chairman Manfred Wutzlhofer, who is also the president of the
Munich Fair, said CEFA members wished to have an active role in the
EU's expansion to the east as well as assist small- and medium-sized
companies in the East European markets.
CEFA is an association of Central and Southeast European fairs,
founded in 1995 by the fairs in Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Graz,
Klagenfurt, Munich, Ljubljana, Prague, and Zagreb, with the aim of
promoting fair activities and the economic potential of that part
of Europe. In 2000, the association was joined by the Sarajevo Fair
and last year by the Belgrade and Novi Sad fairs.
