"It has been proposed that the lists be supplemented to include
additional property that was owned by the former state but is not
included on current lists as the deadline for such proceedings is
five years," the statement says.
A fourth round of meetings of a joint succession committee on the
division of diplomatic/consular property owned by the former
Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was held in Skoplje on
Tuesday.
It was confirmed at that meeting that Croatia will be given
diplomatic residencies in Oslo valued at US$1.4 million, a house
with two apartments in Washington valued at US$1.2 million which
could be handed over quite soon, as with properties in Chile, the
General Consulate building in Frankfurt valued at US$4.1 million,
and an apartment in Trieste valued at US$400,000.
The handover/takeover of the properties will be conducted once an
agreement on division is ratified, the statement notes.
An agreement was reached at the same meeting concerning the sale of
a residency in New York valued at approximately US$6 million. The
money received from the sale will be divided in line with the quota
determined for each of the successor states.
The Croatian delegation, headed by Foreign Ministry secretary and
the head of the joint committee Tatjana Kralj-Draganic, expressed
interest for the building housing Croatia's UN Mission in New
York.
About ten days ago, Croatia was formally registered as the owner of
the building of the embassy in Paris. An international tender is
being prepared for the renovation of the building, the statement
concluded.
