ZAGREB, June 20 (Hina) - The white strike which Croatian customs
officers began at 08 am Thursday has so far caused no big traffic
disruption at the border crossings, the Interior Ministry
spokeswoman, Zinka Bardic, said this morning. #L#
Gridlock has been reported only from the Macelj crossing near
Krapina, where a 2.5-kilometre-long column of cars was waiting on
the Slovenian side to enter Croatia and from Pozana (in Istria) with
a one-kilomtre-long column, Bardic said.
Customs officers, dissatisfied with their material position, will
be on strike until 10 pm Friday.
In the said period they will strictly apply regulations and
thoroughly check all vehicles at border crossings, which may
considerably slow down the flow of cars through the frontier, the
customs officers union's leader, Zeljko Popovic said this
morning.
