prison case. #L#
Zoran Dozdor said he had no first hand knowledge of events based on
which eight former military police officers -- Miljenko Bajic,
Davor Banic, Tonci Vrkic, Josip Bikic, Andjelko Botic, Ante Gudic,
Emilijo Bungur and Tomislav Duic -- have been indicted of war crimes
and the murder of Nenad Knezevic and Gojko Bulovic.
Dozdor backed a statement he had given to a military investigating
judge ten years ago, which said he had heard about Knezevic trying
to break out of prison, on which occasion there was shooting. He
said he knew nothing about Bulovic except that he had died in
prison. Dozdor testified that there had been no abuse in the
prison.
Asked by the judge about what he had heard on Knezevic's break out
attempt, Dozdor said he had heard from others that Knezevic had
attacked a guard and tried to take his gun, then jump over a wall. He
said there had been shots fired.
Witness Mladen Tolusic said he had heard nothing about Djordje
Katic, a prisoner at the time, who, according to the indictment, had
been abused. Tolusic said he had not been present when Katic had
been brought to Lora.
Miroslav Buzov, a guard at Lora, said there had been no events out of
the ordinary in the prison, the Red Cross had visited regularly and
had no objections.
Boris Radosevic confirmed his statement given during the
investigation that there had been no problems or break out
attempts.
"I know of no abuse, nor about Katic, Bulovic or Knezevic,"
Radosevic said.
Members of the Croatian army and enemy troops were in Lora, he said
in reply to an attorney question. He added that he had never seen
women or children there.
The trial continues on Friday with the testimony of new witnesses.
