The report says that during 2001, the trend of consolidating the
banking system continued which led to greater efficiency.
Foreign currency reserves last year reached a record of 4.75
billion dollars and the trend of this growing continued in 2002.
The low inflation rate was preserved and retail prices increased by
a mere 2.6 percent while monetary policies were not restrictive.
Loan activities have revived and loans to the non-banking sector
have increased by 21 percent and economic activities have started
to revive, the report notes.
The HNB claims that in 2001 it realised its fundamental objective -
to preserve stability of the Croatian kuna, low inflation rate and
revive economic activities.
