parliament on Wednesday. #L#
An MP of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Jadranka Kosor, asked
Linic when the price of electricity and gas would go up, as
announced, and whether the poorer citizens would be able to pay it.
Underprivileged citizens will be helped through the social system,
Linic said, adding that the government expected that most citizens
would be able to handle the rise of the price of electricity.
Linic could not specify exactly how much the price of electricity
and gas would rise, saying he would know only when the government
received precise proposals.
Linic dismissed interpretations by which the increased price of
electricity would lead to an increase in other prices.
This is not to be expected, because the new system would bring
cheaper electricity for production, especially to large companies,
so prices could even fall, Linic said. He added that only household
incomes would feel the difference in price.
Deputy Transport Minister Pavao Komadina refuted the writing of
some of Wednesday's newspapers stating that Croatia and its roads
were not prepared for tourism and the traffic in the coming season.
It is the general stance that Croatia is fantastically prepared,
there is not one hole on roads toward Split and Rijeka, and new
asphalt has been laid on 85 kilometres of road, Komadina said.
