Numerous events were organised on Tuesday in Kosovo's capital of
Pristina to mark the city's day. Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova
stated that the Kosovo Assembly would request that June 12 be
proclaimed Kosovo's liberation day.
General Valentin said that since the deployment of the KFOR, 68
troops had lost their lives serving peace, freedom and security in
Kosovo. He said that most of the soldiers had lost their lives in
accidents, although some had been killed in explosions and other
incidents.
He reminded that almost 250,000 peacekeeping troops had taken part
in the peace mission over the past three years.
