This year's gathering of presidents falls on what is a significant
year for Europe and the world, a year when negotiations between the
EU and potential new members is to end and a year when NATO will
distribute invitations to new allies, Slovenian president, Milan
Kucan said on Thursday as the host of the two-day encounter to be
held on Friday and Saturday in Hotel Toplice on the Bled lake and the
Brdo castle.
Croatia's president is attending this summit for the third time and
will conduct a series of bilateral meetings. The president will
also give a brief lecture in the Bled school of management about
Croatia's economic development.
The Slovenian public and media have attributed great attention to
the gathering. One of the reasons being that this will be the last
conference of Central European presidents which Slovenia's
president Kucan will attend because at the end of the year his
second term in office expires.
The presidents of 16 countries will adopt a special declaration
that will refer to integration processes.
